The oldest municipality in Molise aims to attract young people and foreigners

With an average age of 60, Castelbottaccio is the oldest municipality in Molise. Depopulation started here in the nineties.

In order to attract people, for some years the Municipality - through the Fund for marginal municipalities - provides financial support to those who decide to move here by purchasing or renovating a house and to those who choose to open a new commercial activity or strengthen an existing one.

This policy is working. In recent years, about thirty people, mostly foreigners, have bought houses. One of these families has also opened a new bed and breakfast.
