Molise is becoming increasingly interesting for foreigners looking for a home in Italy. This is what emerges from the report by Gate-away.com, an Italian real estate portal dedicated exclusively to foreign buyers.
The Molise territory, in 2024, has seen significant increases in sales of homes to foreigners and in the last 4 years has recorded a growth of +5.36%.
Analyzing the data from the past year, the highest demand comes from the United States with 38.36% of the total, followed by the United Kingdom with 10.57%. In third place we find Germany with 6.65%. Italy follows with 6.26% (in this case we are talking about requests sent by foreign citizens while staying in the country), Belgium (4.31%) and Canada (3.62%).
Scrolling through the rankings, France reports excellent annual performances, increasing by +26.92% and the Netherlands rising by a staggering +5,022.35%.
When considering the data related to the provinces, Campobasso prevails over Isernia with 85.23% of requests.
At the municipal level, Castelbottaccio (Yay, That's us!!) (Campobasso), a small Molise village bordering Lupara in the coastal hinterland, is the most attractive to foreigners with 10.96% of requests and a growth of 8.74% compared to 2023.

Following are Petacciato (Campobasso) on the Molise coast with 10.37%, the coastal town neighboring Montenero di Bisaccia (Campobasso) with 7.53%, and Agnone (Isernia) with 5.48%.
There is strong demand in 2024 for Guglionesi (Campobasso), which increases by +77.27%.
The most requested types of homes are 'detached house' at 37.77%, followed by 'country house' at 10.47%.
Foreign buyers prefer properties that are already restored or habitable in 69.57% of cases, of a size of around 120 sqm in 60.27% of requests, followed by residences between 80–100 sqm at 15.75%.
In terms of prices, the demand is mainly for properties with a budget up to 250,000 euros. In particular, the range up to 100,000 euros represents the most popular with 79.16%, the range between 100,000 and 250,000 euros accounts for 16.83%, and the range between 250,000–500,000 registers 2.25%. The segment between 500,000–1 million euros stands at 1.76%.
The average value of the properties requested in 2024 is 75,866 euros, with a decrease of 20.63% compared to 2023.
